Great looking bike, decent components, fair price., February 14, 2012 This review is from: Diamondback 2012 Overdrive 29'er Mountain Bike (Black) (Sports) The Overdrive 29er looks tough. Huge tires, big front shock, disc brakes and very black. For my taste, it could even be blacker. I'd love to get rid of the fat white stripe on the top bar.
It's a comfy ride. I'm 6" (32' inseam) and got a large, which feels comfortably big. It'll be my ride for an upcoming XTerra Triathlon on trails, but mostly it's going to be a city cruiser, to which it seems very well suited.
Also, the price is very right. It was the best 29er I found, with disc brakes, around $500.
Really the only drawback are the gears. They work, but not beautifully, and they don't inspire much confidence to ride hard.
Other than that, be prepared for some assembly. It's a nice little DIY project and comes with useful instructions and tools. Still I needed a few other tools and some Googling to get it right, especially to adjust the derailleurs.

I have not been on a bike since I was a kid some 20 years ago (wow I feel old). I was worried that getting a bike might hurt my back but it hasn't bothered my back at all. I've been riding approx 3 times a week and look forward to it each time. The bike has performed as expected, the gears are easy to figure out, assembly was easy (honestly I just watched my husband put it together but it didn't look too difficult). I did buy a padded seat. The seat it comes with looks more like a plastic g-string to me. Anyways, good bike, fun workouts.
Review edit: I had originally given this bike a 5 star review but after riding it for about 8 weeks now I have to update my review. I am now giving it 3 stars because the chain keeps falling off. When using the left gear shift to down shift almost without fail the chain falls off. This has become extremely annoying. I'm going to... Read more

Fun, Fast Bike, May 21, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Diamondback 2012 Overdrive 29'er Mountain Bike (Black) (Sports) This bike replaced a bike that was stolen that I had forever - 26" Giant Iguana. This was nearly three times what I paid for the old bike, many years ago, when I bought it used from a friend.
I'm over 6'4" and found it hard to find a used bike that would fit me, that's why I bought this one.
Really fits me well, it's really fast in grass and trails.
Was simple to assemble.
